National Pet Memorial Day
Each year on the second Sunday of September, pet owners throughout our nation are encouraged to share cherished memories of their beloved animals who have passed on and “crossed the rainbow bridge.” While there is no doubt that the death of a pet is extremely painful, my goal as a professional pet photographer is to bring a smile to your face and provide you with heart-warming images that freeze a beautiful chapter in your pets’ life.
Even though the average pet owner has hundreds of digital photos of their pets on their phone (guilty!), how many actually do anything with those photos aside from casually viewing them every so often? When a pet passes, a professional print tastefully hanging on a wall has the ability to instantly brighten and transform the mood of the room. In the words of the great artist Pierre Auguste Renoir, “The pain passes, but the beauty remains.”
Whether your pet is still tearing up living room sofas, living its best middle-aged life, or slowly entering into its golden years, a professional photo session can be the perfect way to memorialize your pet for a lifetime. I’d be honored to help you do just that!
Paco and Moko, pictured here, were 16 year old chihuahuas who lived wonderfully long lives together. They both passed on shortly after our photo session, and while my heart breaks for their family, I feel satisfied knowing that they’ll have these beautiful images forever.
“Alison took photos of my chihuahuas a few months prior to them passing. I'm so grateful to have these beautiful photos of my precious boys displayed in my living room for a lifelong memory. She was wonderfully compassionate with them as they were both very old and one of them was rather difficult. “ - Paulina A. (Yelp)
This Sunday, I encourage you to share memories of your pets on social media. Share their life stories with those around you and find joy in cherishing their precious photographs.
